Using the Same Floor Across Multiple Rooms!
If you find a floor covering that you like, why not use it in more than one room in your home. One of the great features of luxury vinyl flooring is that it is very adaptable and can be used in a range of different rooms for different purposes, so it is equally appropriate in a hallway or a bathroom.
As a luxury vinyl tile fitter in Handsacre, Lichfield, All Floor One recently installed the same flooring in two bathrooms, a hall, kitchen/diner, and conservatory. You can see from the photographs how perfectly suited the flooring was to each of the rooms it was fitted into.
In the two bathrooms, we used Hanson’s Sp101 6mm ply to ply line two bathroom floors (fixed to British standards, 196 fixings per sheet). This plywood is specifically made for the purpose of flooring underlay. It creates the perfect sub-floor on which to put luxury vinyl tiles. We were able to work around the existing units, free standing bath and shower cubicle, and fit the ply snugly up to the skirting boards.
The next part of the process was to fit the luxury vinyl flooring. Our customers chose J2 ST03 Fossil Limestone tiles, which were laid with a 1/3 of a tile step (rather than the traditional 50/50 or half tile step).
We took a different approach when preparing the sub-floor for the hall running through into the kitchen/diner/conservatory. For these rooms, we used Ardex repair mortar and NA smoothing underlayment. Once this was all in place, we then installed the J2 ST03 Fossil Limestone tile, again laid with 1/3 of a tile step (rather than the traditional 50/50 or half tile step).
